Abstract : An alternating direction implicit scheme is presented to solve Poisson’s equation of fractional order using the shifted Grünwald-Letnikov estimate. Consistency and uniqueness of the method are discussed. It is shown that the rate of convergence in case of the ADI method is faster than the general five points formula.
